Before coming to The Boston Home, I never painted but I made fiber art. I was a knitter and a weaver.  My family members are very talented painters. When I came to live here, they dragged me kicking and screaming to watercolor class, because I did not think that I had the ability to paint.  I used to be right-handed, and now I use my left hand.  I am convinced that made a difference in my ability and talent to paint.

I enjoy painting scenes that I see from life.  I grew up in Brookline, and later lived in Jamaica Plain, so I did a series of paintings of the Emerald Necklace.  I try to encourage others to paint what is around them.  When I first came to The Boston Home, the Admissions Director told me, “I expect you to hit the ground running,” and that has always been in my mind. The Boston Home has so many great programs to explore.
