Did you know that The Boston Home has stood atop the hill at the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Gallivan Boulevard since 1884? In 1927, in order to better serve the expanding community of disabled residents, the original wooden structure was replaced with a new brick building that has stood the test of time. Though expansions have more than doubled the building's footprint over the past century, the 1927 structure still forms the heart of our current facility, housing resident rooms, dining areas, administrative offices and more. We are grateful that a recent grant from Yawkey Foundation has helped to safeguard the building from the challenges of New England weather. In June, roof replacement was completed on the 1927 section on the building, marking a critical improvement to our residents' home. We are grateful to Yawkey Foundation for their steadfast support of The Boston Home's mission of empowering adults with advanced neurological disorders to lead creative and purposeful lives.
